DILI, 16 May 2022 (TATOLI) – The Government of Thailand has initiated a collaboration with the Government Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoYES) Since 2014 to promote education, health, sanitation, nutrition, and learning skills for students in six schools in Timor-Leste, said the Ambassador of the Royal Thai Embassy in Timor-Leste, Ekapol Poolpipat in his statement.

Ambassador Ekapol Poolpipat said the support given by the Princess of Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to implement the Sufficiency Economic Philosophy and create balance and stable development, at all levels.

“Six schools including Escola Básica Central Fatuquero, Escola Básica Filial Dona Ana Lemos, Ensino Pré- Escolar Acanuno, Escola Básica Filial Acanuno, Escola Filial Acanuno, Escola Básica Central Hera and Escola Básica Central Sao José Baguia, to promote education, sanitation, and learning skills for children and youth in Timor-Leste.”

Ambassador Ekapol Poolpipat added that the project had adopted the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) which was introduced in 1974 by His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. an approach for sustainable development which espouses moderation, reasonableness, and prudence as a development framework based on knowledge and virtue.

The Philosophy attaches great importance to human development at all levels and emphasizes the need to strengthen the community’s capacity to ensure a balanced way of life and resilience, with full respect for the environment.

“Thailand introduces the application of the philosophy of economic sufficiency as a means to promote sustainable development for Timor-Leste,” Ambassador said.

“Various activities were carried out including growing various crops, production and use of organic fertilizers, organic animal feed, cultivation, and production of added value for Timorese farmers,” He said.

So far, through the efforts and support of the Thai Embassy in Timor-Leste Timorese teachers were also among the teachers who were awarded the Prices Maha Chakri Award.
