DILI, 20 january 2022 (TATOLI) – More than 50 thousand students of the 9th grade of elementary school and 12th grade of high school passed the national exams.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS), António Guterres gave an overview of the result of the national examinations. He announced that of the 31.141 registered students of the 9th grade of elementary school, 29.185 students sat for the national exam with 99.95% success rate. Of the number, 1.444 students didn’t sit for the national exam.

“There were 21.571 students of year 12 (high school) also passed the national exams, equivalent to 99.98%, of which 14 students were failed, representing 0.02%,” said Guterres in a press conference held at the Conference Hall of the MoEYS, in Dili, on thursday.

Guterres explained that the classification of 2022 national exam divided into two models – Model A and Model B: “Model A classification was applied to those students who had been fully attended the class during the state of emergency, while the Model B classification was applied to those schools that halted their teaching and learning process during the state of emergency.

Guterres also said that, according to the results of the classification of the Model A for elementary school students who attended classes during the state of emergency, the CAFE basic schools of Lautém and Laicara ranked the first position.

He said while the 9th grade of basic schools of Baucau, namely Maria Auxiliadora, São Pedro and São Cristóvão were ranked in the first place of the Model B classification.

On the other hand, of all high schools across the national territory, Santo Inácio de Loiola, CAFE of Lautém, Lere Anan Timur, Maliana College and CAFE of Aileu obtained the best grades of the Model A classification. While, Santo António High School of Baucau, Avé Maria, São José Operário, São Pedro Comoro, Paulo VI, An-Nur, Minor Seminary, Externato de São José and Calixa ranked first position of the Model B classification.

The Coordinator of the Curricular Development of MoEYS, Mateus dos Reis said that the municipal education directors will, tomorrow, distribute the exam results to all schools, saying students would receive it on saturday.

“Tomorrow, the municipal education directors will distribute the results of the national exams to each school, so that students could receive them on the following day,” he said.
