DILI, 01 october 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded 37 new COVID-19 cases, 56 recoveries, and the active cases had dropped to 744, Rui Maria de Araujo Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK) says.

According to today’s figure, 10 new cases were detected in capital Dili, 20 in Baucau, four in Bobonaro, two in RAEOA, and one in Manufahi municipality.

Of the 37 new cases, 24 percent were fully vaccinated citizens, and 14 percent have received at least one dose of the vaccine. These new cases are made up of 10 men and 27 women.

Araujo said the 28 of the new cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including seven cases under 20, and two elderly persons, adding 37.8 percent were symptomatic.

There are 37 people with COVID-19 in hospital and five of those are in critical condition, with one on a ventilator.

In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 209 PCR tests, including one via sentinel surveillance tests, one through contact tracing, 36 via random screening, and 11 were following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 149 for the international travel authorization and 11 in quarantines.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.535 cases, 18.674 recoveries, 117 deaths.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 59.8 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 37.2 percent have been fully vaccinated.
