DILI, 18 september 2021 (TATOLI)-The Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Timor- Leste, Andrew Jacobs said, the EU delegation from Brussels will be involved in the process of observation for the 2022 presidential election.
“I have been informed by the Ministry of State Administration through the National Election Commission (CNE) and STAE to involve the EU delegation members in the observation of presidential election 2022,” EU Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Andrew Jacobs told Tatoli in the Ministry of Finance, Aitarak- Laran Dili on Friday.
Andrew Jacobs explained observer from Brussels is very crucial to ensure the transparency of the presidential election process in Timor – Leste.
“I have been coordinated with the EU headquarter in Brussel, that EU delegation members will be ready to visit Timor- Leste in march 2022,” said Jacobs.
The President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, asked the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) and the National Election Commission (CNE) to start preparing for the presidential elections 2022, despite the challenges posed by the covid-19.
At the same time, The Minister of State Administration (MAE), Miguel de Carvalho said that the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) was preparing for the elections.
