DILI, 06 july 2021 (TATOLI)- The Australian Government through the Timor-Leste Police Development Program (TLPDP) has constructed a Tactics Training Center for the Timor-Leste National Police (PNTL) especially the Special Unit Police (UEP) to conduct tactical training professionally.
“On behalf of the PNTL I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Australian Government for assisting the PNTL in constructing a new Tactics Training Center for the PNTL, especially the UEP because with advanced facilities PNTL will become a Police with a professional,” said PNTL Deputy Commissioner Mateus da Costa in Bairo Pite to Journalist TATOLI News Agency on tuesday.
He said that the PNTL is often criticized by the public for lack of tactical training, because of that we hope,with this new Tactics Training Center the PNTL will be trained to be even more disciplined in implementing the existing professionalism of the PNTL.
“We are very happy today because TLPDP is committed to assisting in modernizing existing equipment with the aim that PNTL can develop into a professional PNTL in dealing with social phenomena that exist in public generally,” said Mateus.
In the same place, Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs Antonio Armindo said that next year the Minister of Interior Affairs will put money in the 2022 Annual Budget to buy new equipment because all current PNTL equipment has been donated by Portugal for a long time.
“We know that all PNTL equipment is no longer suitable for use, therefore the Ministry of Interior Affairs will together with PNTL put funds in 2022 so that we can build PNTL professionally in the future,” said Armindo.
The Tactics Training Center was built by the Caltech Company for three months commencing from march- june.
The Tactics Training Center has 10 rooms with funding $117 USD and was inaugurated today.
