DILI, 5 march 2021 (TATOLI) – The coordinator of the Covid-19 in Timor-Leste, Rui Maria de Araújo, said the MoH authority ( CIGC-SS) registered six confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, five of which were infected from Fatumea and one from Baucau.

“Of the five cases of covid-19, three are students at the Central Basic School of Fatumea. Are transferred to the Vera Cruz Isolation Center ”, Rui Maria de Araújo, said at a press conference, at the CCD in Dili.

The coordinator also points out that the MoH team are continued to search for people, including students from the Central Basic School of Fatumea, who were in direct contact with those infected with Covid-19.

Rui Maria de Araújo said, however a health team from the Municipality of Baucau detected, on March 2, 2021, a new case in Baucau Vila. The infected person traveled, on March 1st, from Dili to Baucau with bus. Upon arriving in Baucau, his neighbor immediately informed the joint health team to take the patient for testing and the result of was positive, but Mr Araújo stressed that the viral load was low, with a CT (Cycle threshold) of 42.5.

At the same time, he said, according to the information from the patient’s family members, the infected person has not been in contact with any other person.

Mr Araújo also added, that 17 people who traveled by bus to Baucau together with the infected were all tested. The results were negative and currently they are waiting for the completion of the second screening test.

“These are confirmed cases. At the same time, we registered four more recoveries and the 25 infected are fulfilling the isolation in Vera Cruz ”, he said.
