DILI, 23 february, 2021 (TATOLI) – Timorese Government congratulates the 2020 report on the corruption perception index (IPC) which underlined Timor-Leste as country that occupies 86th place of ranking among 180 countries.  

“The Government congratulates the improvement seen in relation to the CPI by Timor-Leste. The 2020 international report on corruption clearly shows that Timor-Leste has taken a positive step in the fight against corruption in addition with the government approval on the measure to combat the corruption (MPCC)law,” Magalhães said after the meeting at the Ministry of Finance hall, Aitarak laran Dili.

According to Magalhães the application of the new Preventive law for Combating the corruption is the results of the State’s willingness to actively prevent and combat corruption in Timor-Leste.

The President of Commission A of the National Parliament which deals with Justice and Constitution Affairs, Joaquim dos Santos has desire that the number of corruption crimes will cut down in the future.

“With the application of this law, we hope the rate of crime associated to the corruption will reduce next year. Therefore, it is important to disclose a detail information and data of the entire Timorese state agents,” he said.
