DILI, 20 january 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste Government proposed to the President of Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo for the renewal of the State of Emergency for another thirty days amid surge of covid-19.
“The Council of Minister decides to extend the State of Emergency, thus the Government requests the President of Republic to extend the state of emergency until March,” President for the Council of Minister, Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães said.
The extension to the state of emergency is to prevent the transmission of covid-19 and to protect the public health beyond to secure the capacity to answer to the National Health System.
With the Request for the renewal of the State of Emergency, Government decided to suspend the right for the international movements and the residence circulation.
