DILI, 28 october 2020 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste’s President of Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú OLo issued a new state of emergency declaration in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The renewal of state emergency by 30 days, begin at 00:00 in november 4, 2020 to 4 of december 2020 at 23:59.
“The State of Emergency as the prevention policy and control to remove all citizens in Timor-Leste from the public calamity which is possible coming from COVID-19. State has balanced the risks which associated to the SARS-COV-2 to Timor-Leste and the measure that need to set to prevent the importation of COVID-19 from other countries that has close relation with Timor-Leste,” said in the Press release from the presidential palace.
For the prevention and controlling of COVID-19, state will set special attention at the entrance points and set quarantine to the suspect infected by covid-19 and the isolation for those who suffer from covid-19. All these measures will protect all the population. Without these measures the country’s situation will become difficult.
State took these measures to protect public health, on the other hand it will limit all citizens right and freedom guarantee by the constitution.
This state of emergency will suspend and limiting all the right for international circulation, freedom of circulation and residential visa in all national territories and the right for resistance.
