DILI, 26 agustu 2020 (TATOLI)– The Government has requested that the President issue a fifth period of State Emergency during the council of ministers meeting this morning.

“ [The request is] Based on the evolution and progression of the epidemiological situation and proliferation of recorded cases, there is concerns at a regional and global level, with the ideas of avoiding and neutralizing the risk of the transmission of covid-19, and to protect public health and ensure there is no hindrance in the ability to respond to the potential crisis,” President for the Council of Minister Fidelis Manuel Leite Magalhães said after the Council Meeting.

He added that the extension for the state of emergency is intended to allow the suspension or restriction of international circulation and movements.

The fourth period of the State Emergency begun at 00:00 o’clock on August 6 2020 and will be end at 23:59 o’clock in September 4, 2020 within 30 days, limited the movement in the land border, airport and port.

The head of State issued first period of state emergency for 30 days that was officially begun on March 28 at 00:00 o’clock until 26 of April 2020 at 23:59 o’clock to allow the government to implement specific measures proven to stop the propagation of COVID-19.

Based on this need for an extended State Emergency, the Head of State issued a second period of State Emergency within 30 days according to the request from the Government.

Hence, on April 27, 2020, Republic President over the Decree law no.32/2020 issued the second period of state emergency within 30 days start from 28 of April at 00:00 o’clock to May 27,2020 at 23:59 o’clock.

The third State of Emergency was implemented at 00:00 o’clock on March 28, 2020 to 26 of Jun 2020.
