DILI,  22 july 2020 (TATOLI)- 80% of Schools both High School and Primary school totalling 1,902 have reopened since June. The reopening comes with complying with a list of safety measure requirements released by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health.

The Vice-Minister of Education António Guterres added that there are still 13 schools in Dili and one in Atauro, as well as other schools in Municipalities, that are still undergoing preparation for the beginning of the school activities.

“I appreciate to all those, who put the efforts to accelerate the process of opening schools in all territories, according to the data from MEDJ, 80% of schools have begun teaching once again, this is excellent progress for us,” Vice-Minister António Guterres said

Regarding the schools in Biquely Atauro, the Vice-Minister Guterres said, he has contacted the school’s Director to start the process to reopen.

“The school Director informed the Ministry that they had not completed all the requirements, especially the logistical requirements which need to be completed by the school to allow students to return; thus, we are trying to find the way to reach them,” he said.

In spite all the schools in Timor-Leste are set to restart their activities before July 2020.
